Attrition: Print and Play Edition

Attrition is a two-player World War I themed skirmish game, where both players build a battlefield, then choose a squad of soldiers to fight with! There are four classes of soldier, Grunt, Medic, Sniper, and Sergeant, who all have their strengths and weaknesses. It's up to the player to run and gun their way to success!

The game has four phases, the first phase consists of placing Elevation Tiles on the board, which give bonuses to damage. After the landscape is set, both players take turns placing defenses on the map, generating unique battlefields almost every time the game is played. Then, players draft a squad in secret. Once both players are ready, the soldiers are revealed and the skirmish begins!

Shooting soldiers consists of a dice roll, which can be augmented by advantages, such as terrain bonuses, or flanking, hiding in cover, or shooting at point blank. If a soldier is shot, then they are downed, and can be revived by a Medic only once. After that, if they are shot again they die.

Therefore, the objective of the game is to either kill or down all your enemy's soldiers! Just make sure to watch out for sneaky Medics, as victory might seem assured, but when a sniper is brought back it might spell disaster for the enemy team!

After play-testing, creating art, and brainstorming for the past month, I present Attrition as a free Print and Play game. This is only the first step, as over next one and a half month our class will take these Print and Play editions of our games and create physical board games! I already have plenty of ideas for my physical version, but that will come soon. For now, to play the Print and Play Edition of Attrition, you can find a PDF containing all of the files needed here: Attrition Print and Play!
